Derivative Modernity in Nanyang

The Nanyang Style refers to the use of a mix of styles and techniques from Chinese pictorial traditions and the School of Paris, which was practiced by a group of artists who featured prominently within the local cultural scene in the years after the end of the Second World War. Derivative Modernity in Nanyang style Exhibition presented local artists Chong Choy, HK Pang, Ong Chia Koon and Tai boon Piow who inherit in the Nanyang style, continue the experiment and explore creative persistence and continue to breaking new ground in the creation of the Nanyang style.
